As followers of Christ we know that there are “many gifts” of the Spirit. Discovering what gift(s) we have been given is crucial in living our purpose and gathering Israel. We are taught to seek them “earnestly” for the benefit of all. It can require some effort, so we’ve gathered a few of our favorite resources to help you get started.
- Over at Moms of Light they have compiled a list of spiritual gifts found in different books of scripture as well as from General Conference talks. It’s so helpful to be able to see them all in one place. Be sure to check out the list of six qualifications for receiving spiritual gifts at the end of the list!
- If you’re looking for how to learn about spiritual gifts as a family, LDS Daily has a Family Home Evening lesson plan with sections for younger and older children/teens that would be perfect for a Monday night!
- Eva Witesman was interviewed for the All In: An LDS Living Podcast by Morgan Jones and the whole episode is full of great insights about spiritual gifts, how we develop them and why. Worth the listen for sure!
We also love what Elder John C. Pingree Jr. suggested when he said: “So how do we come to know our gifts? We can reference our patriarchal blessing, ask those who know us best, and personally identify what we are naturally good at and enjoy. Most important, we can ask God (see James 1:5; D&C 112:10). He knows our gifts, since He gave them to us (see D&C 46:26).” Heavenly Father wants to reveal our gifts to us and will reveal them as we seek with faith.
